Over the first month, I revised lore details, drew up a storyboard and journey maps, wrote my script, and created a 3D previzualisation on Xd for the interactive film.
By the first month, I had also coded a fully functional version of the user-generated stories map website.
I used google's map API for the map and firebase to store and manage the stories people leave. To highlight
each station and line, I used google map's API documentation for all that styling as well as for the droppable
pin markers. I added the logo and a sidebar using basic HTML and CSS.
I started getting an error that showed up once I hosted the website through netlify, it'd display a 'For Development Purposes'
grey tilemap all over it. However, while that does affect the intended visual look of the website, it does still
fully function. I got in touch with my supervisor and computer science staff to help me figure out a way around it.
I used git throughout developing the website to ensure I had a backup of my code and my source code is public.
I was continually researching and on the look-out for projects that have a similar aim and theme to my project since my proposal lacked strong relevant past attempts as references. I visited Masafet El Sekka (The distance of the way) Exhibition which included different artworks and installations under the theme of commutes and the street culture of it. A particular mixed media installation by Dina El-Zeneiny was really striking and is a really good reference to the transmedia experience I'm creating.
My progress with the tracklist was also pretty major in this phase where I had recorded sound from all lines ready
for editing and uploading.
For my photography element, I had different ideas for it and didn't really know which
direction to take with displaying them. I have about 3 years worth of material, so I started curating them and
choosing the ones that really stand out and have a strong composition. These are the ones I felt should be highlighted the most.
Finally, I created a rough plan for the rest of my production in the coming weeks.
